Using scissors, remove the flaps from the four sides of the cardboard cereal box.

The height of the 12 oz. box matches up perfectly with 8.5” by 11” cardstock. Measure and cut two rectangles 2.75” wide by 11” tall from a piece of medium green cardstock, then cut out with scissors.

Fit a second piece of medium green cardstock across the front of the box and carefully fold the right side and left side, then firmly crease the cardstock.

TIP: You can also use Kunin Felt Craft Cuts, craft foam, or construction paper to complete this project.

Attach the folded piece of medium green cardstock to the front of the box with a glue gun and glue sticks, then secure the folded sections to the sides of the box. Glue the two rectangles of medium green cardstock to the right and left sides of the box.

TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.

Download and print the SOCCER VALENTINE MAILBOX PATTERNS at the bottom of this post onto white cardstock. Color in the sections of the soccer ball marked by an “X” with a black marker.

Draw a tight cross hatch pattern on the three sections of the soccer net with a black marker.

Cut out the soccer ball and net patterns with scissors, cutting just outside the lines to create a clean finished project.

Flip the soccer net over and draw the pipe and net patterns on the pattern with a black marker. Since the net will be folded, the sides will be visible from both sides.

Cut out the three heart patterns with scissors. Trace the heart patterns twice onto bright green cardstock with a pencil. Cut out the heart patterns with scissors, cutting inside the lines to create a clean finished project.

Dry fit the soccer ball and net onto the front of the box. Draw the soccer field lines on the box using a white paint pen. Use the photo for accurate placement.

Attach the soccer ball and the net to the box using a glue gun and glue sticks. Use the photo for accurate placement. Glue the bright green hearts to the front and sides of the box.

To finish, add your child’s name (and soccer number) to the mailbox using letter stickers or a marker before taking it into the classroom.
